Rules and Conditions for Lions Club Texas Holdem Poker Tournament

Cost of ticket is $40.00. All of the money from the ticket sales becomes the prize pool. The prize pool will be shared by the top 10% of players up to a maximum of 10 players. Prize money is awarded based on a percentage of the money pool and the players placing. Therefore the top winner will win more than the 10th place winner.

The game is broken down into “Rounds” which last thirty minutes each. During the first three Rounds, a player who loses all of his/her chips may re-join the game by making a voluntary purchase of more chips ($20.00), or they may choose not to continue playing.

At the end of the third Round no player can purchase more chips, therefore if they loose all of their chips they are eliminated from the tournament. At the end of the third Round the players have an option. They may make a one time purchase of chips (called an “add-on”), regardless of how many chips they still have. This again is voluntary ($20.00 or $40.00 add-on). Play continues and when players loose their chips they are out of the tournament.

The tournament ends when the last player owns all of the chips. That player of course wins the largest percentage of the money pool.

There is no alcohol served at the tournaments. Soft drinks and food are sold. Coffee is complimentary.
The players at these tournaments are generally local residents who enjoy testing their skill against others. Both woman and men play in the tournaments. Texas Holdem Poker has become the fastest growing recreational activity in Ontario.  Players must be at least 19 yrs of age.

All rules of Poker are followed, and monitored by a qualified Director.
